Our story

Seafin, formerly “Shoanne”, built in 1961 of pitch pine with oak frames and a teak deck, was one of the last wooden vessels built by John J Thorneycroft of Southampton. In 1964, she moved to Scotland and was renamed “Minala.”

In 1967 she became a member of the well-known Profumo family, moved to Eire and was named “Seafin”. Profumo was an MP and a junior minister eventually becoming Secretary of the State for War in 1960. His demise is well documented in the film ‘Scandal’ (1989) following his resignation from the Government. From 1971 to 1986 a new owner based her in Jersey, Sark and Cornwall with sojourns into the Baltic.

Seafin has been run as a charter vessel by Warwick Bergin from 1986 to 2013 and by Hamble Point Yacht Charters from 2014. Extensive and continuous upgrading and refurbishing culminated in an MCA classification as a full class 5 & 6 passenger charter vessel.

She has sailed as far as Italy, France, the Balearics and to both Paris and London. She is now based in Hamble in the Solent and awaits you and your guests for that little treat of a day of luxury.
